I bought the camera from BPM-Power a few days, and the first impression is very positive, do not expect indestructible materials, the room is small and light, some details seem a bit ‘delicate’ plastic ‘, but the performance and functionality they look really interesting. On the other hand, manageability and ergonomics are of great levels.

Obviously we can not evaluate a product in a few days, but the first impression is that we need a little ‘getting used to the layout of menus, not always very intuitive, on the other hand, the functions and settings are so many available, and offer a wide range of intervention and regulation. If not then you want to work too hard there is always an effective function Ai, fully automatic, which seems to do a good job in most situations.

Very good generous Leica lens (46 mm), with convenient automatic lens cover. Finally a decent wide-angle camera with an opening, only the Sony 550 VE is a little better in this respect. The 12x optical zoom works fine, the command is comfortable and progressive, the extra zoom 18x digital is surprisingly almost perfect, forget the 30x, 700x’s I will not even talk. Just as I’m not talking pictures: discrete, but who wants to take good pictures you’d better take a good camera at half the price.

Very effective stabilization, with two levels (normal and AD). Useful and convenient multi-function dial for manual adjustment purposes. The LCD monitor will not be the best, but it seems to me more than decent, as well as the electronic viewfinder, useful when shooting in bright light, a little ‘uncomfortable (not adjustable), but much better than nothing, which is just that offer the most current camcorders.
A couple of goodies: the interesting ability to record video capturing a frame every 1, 10, 30 …. second, perfect for slow speed sequences, of course, or for creative effects of accelerated motion. Very useful also the Pre-Rec function to capture moments of which one can not predict exactly the beginning: no longer need to record 30 minutes flat sea just to be sure of catching a jumping dolphin, point the camera and press the Rec when you see the event: the camera will record in memory even before the 3 seconds.

There are different recording quality: very good the standard (interlaced) to the highest quality (HA, 17 Mbps), tablets decent ones, but unless you are really short of memory, I see no reason to use them. Really excellent quality of the footage in full HD progressive (1080/50p), but be careful, then edit it can be a big problem, the supplied software, as well as a very basic editing, will allow you to convert AVCHD to Standard. In general, however, remember that AVCHD editing is much more resource hungry (HW and SW) of the good old DV.
In difficult light conditions or poor auto white balance can be difficult and will widen the image a bit ‘, but really accettabilissimi levels, and much better than I had before from Canon DV: Of course, you can get better, but be prepared to spend 4 times the price of the TM700.

The camera heats up a lot ‘during the operation, for those who were concerned about the cooling fan, well, you can barely hear, and registration is very difficult to perceive, but if you are manic sound you can always take a microfonino external (supplied There is a convenient messenger portaaccessori). By the way, is one of the few camcorders that enables good sound adjustments (and video).
The included battery lasts about 1 hour, buy one spare, double capacity, but beware, the original Panasonic (VBG260) costs 120 €, and many of those flights are not recognized by the camera and need a charger separately. They are, however batteries “decoded” with a chip that makes them compatible, less than one third of the price Panasonic will come when I’ll see if it works. Less than 10 € there are also mini-inverter 75 W, useful for charging car battery dall’accendisigari.

A pair of 32 GB SDHC card (just a good class 4) will provide 5 to 8 hours of recording in addition to the 32 GB built-in memory. Useful in some cases, a mini tripod to keep the stock market: the Chinese for 10 € and 5 cm are fine. We must also add an HDMI-miniHDMI to see the clips on TV, instead of the USB cable is supplied.
For more impressions need a little ‘more time and a few more tests … but at the moment I would recommend it without reservation.

Panasonic HDC-TM700 user review

I am not going to ramble through the amazing technical specifications of this camera, if you want that, have a look at the website.

When I set out to buy a camera, I had only 2 criteria that needed to be met:
1> It must be idiot proof
2> The picture should look like the “Home Movies” people shoot in the holywood movies :)

1 – If you set this camera to auto it is simply a dream to use. I know very little about manual settings but flipping that auto switch makes it easy for me to use. It adjusts to ligt and dark very well and with the face recognition I can program my wife’s face into the camcorder and it will make sure she always in focus, even in a crown of people.
2 – The picture is simply stunning, I hardly ever shoot at 1080p as the files are very big to edit and copy but even in the much lower resolutions the picture quality is awesome. We view the videos on a 50″ 1080p telly and they look on par with many pro Blu-Ray discs.

You have shell a big chunk of change for this camera but if you want quality, you can’t go wrong.
The only reason I did not give this a perfect rating is Panasonic taking the mick with the price of spare batteries. £99 for a high capacity (2 hours) spare! You can buy cheap alternatives but they do not work properly as Panasonic has copyrighted a chip in the battery that tells the camcorder what power level the battery holds and ID’s itself to the camera.

Oh, and a final thing, the camera is good enough to replace your compact, so you only have to carry one gadget when on holiday:)

Panasonic AG HVX201 camera, commercially available by the end of 2008, is a model designed exclusively for use in the professional, as private and inaccessible to a user for the very high price for the volume is difficult. So this is a niche product reserved for operators.

Panasonic AG HVX201 resolution, zoom and display

The technical features of the Panasonic AG-HVX201 out to be a bit ‘different if related to the envelope of traditional base expressed by the compact nature of models, those closest to the sensitivity and knowledge of most users. However, this model installed between the basic elements of an image sensor type 3CCD HD quality and 16:9 aspect ratio or wide. The resolution achieved with this device is the total of 2.35 megapixels. The sensor supports the interline transfer and progressive modes of recording. The shots are made using the built-in optical viewfinder, but there is also a 3.5-inch LCD display extension. As the target is installed with the possibility of so-called Leica Dicomar 13x optical zoom. Filter diameter of 82 mm, aperture F1.6.

Panasonic AG HVX201 design, supply and recording medium

There are several recording formats that can be selected by the user using Panasonic AG HVX201 in the process of archiving video content. Among these, we recall the so-called Pro HD DCV, DCV Pro 50, DVC Pro and DV, Mini DV, but also the type common to many models also compact printing, is compatible with the operation of this camera. The rechargeable lithium ion battery that provides power to this model has a significantly higher than classical, we arrive at 5400 mAh. Power can also be input via DC. The design is obviously typical of the ultra-professional. The weight is 2400 grams, also excluding battery and accessories. The depth amounts to 390 mm, the height is about 180 mm and then the width is 168.5 mm.

Panasonic AG HVX201 Audio and main functions

The optical image stabilizer allows you to achieve maximum precision and good stability of any image or recovery made by offsetting the effect due to the movement of the device or any hand-shake that supports it. There is the possibility of switching resources from Panasonic AG HVX201 set mode “engine”, or automatic to manual. E ‘thus allowed to select desired settings, but also let the system to adjust the options depending on shooting conditions and circumstances and context of use. The recorded audio format compatible with the Panasonic AG HVX201 is the so-called PCM 48 kHz 16-bit. Audio 2 channel or 4 channel selectable. Recording Time: 63 min. in SP, 94 min. in LP.

Panasonic AG HVX201 Envelope, photo mode and connections

As with the vast majority of so-called digital cameras for professional use, offering a structure and aesthetic line similar to Panasonic AG HVX201, the model in question also has the ability to record video only, without incorporating a real digital photo mode to take pictures. Noteworthy are the potential offered by connecting Panasonic AG HVX201. You remember the exit USB 2.0, the Component Video output, input and output S-Video, Composite input and output. Do not miss the jack for connecting headphones (out) and added a microphone (input). Finally, we note access IEEE 1394. The total purchase of video-camera support includes microphone, wireless remote control, shoulder strap, driver installation, battery cables and AC / DC.

Panasonic AG HVX201 final verdict

Panasonic AG HVX201 is a digital video camera unsuitable for use by any user. Whether for money, in fact, both features of extreme complexity that weight and bulk, is intended only for use by professionals in the industry, who have reason to have to use a device of this magnitude. Only the weight of this device, to 2400 grams without batteries and accessories, is a sign of the camera belonging to a category different from that in which gravitate camcorders in common use. Embedded resources then, beyond the 3CCD image sensor and optics Leica Dicomar, are of high technical standards and lack of understanding and ease of use. Interesting is the potential on the device. Optical image stabilizer.

Panasonic AG HVX201 user review

For those who intend to buy a good camera but have little familiarity with the vast amount of innovations that have occurred in recent years, the Panasonic AG-HVX201 is now one of the standards established in the field of digital footage. Its key feature is the ability to record HD images (in DVC Pro HD) on special memory cards called P2 or external hard drives. The result is an image that, with appropriate simplifications, is very close to that generated by a camera, making it one of the cameras favored by those who intend to short films and nature documentaries.
There is also the possibility of adding an accessory developed specifically for the Panasonic, or “Redrock” (but also other systems such as ps technik), which allows you to mount lenses from 35 mm cameras, combining the definition of a HD the depth of field characteristic of the cameras. The results are often very noticeable.

The price is fairly stable between 4000 and 4500 €, depending on the type of accessories required (often the homes for sale do not sell the camera alone, but the special offer in kit).
It should however be very careful when handling material shot in HD although the picture quality compared to cameras into service five years ago, is truly unparalleled, it is equally true that there is a whole technology required to be able to treat: in other words, you need powerful computers and therefore expensive to install and work the high-definition as well as a multitude of highly technical knowledge that they were not required when you used the old mini-dv.

Pros:

High exposure latitude
Optics with manual functions
Ability to customize the “Gamma”
Presence of the “frame rate” variable (which in practice allows shooting is fast and in slow motion)
Ability to record in multi-format (SD and HD but also on video tape Mini-DV)
Compactness and ease of use
Excellent management of the audio portion.

Cons:

Zoom inaccurate in “Servant”
The P2, despite the drop in prices recorded over the years, are still expensive
Having to register on cards, is required to bring the material suitable for downloading the material, before it re-
Tele limited and additional targets are very expensive.

28mm Wide The 28mm wide-angle* on the HD 90 Series fits more people and more of the background into the frame than conventional models. This is especially handy when you want to take a group photo in a small room. It fits your subjects in even when you shoot from up close, and makes it possible to pick up even small sounds with the mic. It also gives you entirely new ways to enjoy your camcorder, like taking self portraits or capturing sweeping landscapes without losing the sense of scale.

Panasonic HDC-SD90 Intelligent 40x Zoom and HYBRID O.I.S.

Power O.I.S. HybridThe HD 90 Series features a an Intelligent Zoom function that goes all the way up to 40x. When using Intelligent Zoom, Intelligent Resolution technology lets you shoot at high zoom rates while preserving the image resolution. You get sharp images of highly detailed objects – without the blurry edges. Plus, the HD 90 Series is equipped with HYBRID O.I.S., an image stabilizer system that corrects hand-shake blurring by combining the action of its hybrid optical and electrical image stabilization systems. Even when zooming, where hand-shake often occurs, both optical and electrical hand-shake correction make it possible to record beautiful images with approximately 2 times* the hand-shake suppressing effect as conventional models.

Panasonic HDC-SD90 O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) Lock

The image-stabilizing effect is increased by pressing and holding the O.I.S. Lock indication on the LCD screen, which maximizes the blur detection sensitivity. This is great for when you want to zoom at a fixed angle, like for bird watching.

Panasonic HDC-SD90 1080/60p Recording (Full-HD 1920 x 1080, 60 Progressive Recording)

Full HD With its transfer rate of 28 Mbps, 1080/60p recording (Full-HD, 1,920 x 1,080, 60 progressive recording) conveys about twice the information of 1080i (interlace) recording. Whereas interlacing requires two images to produce a complete picture, the progressive method records a single image as a complete picture. Plus, the 60 Progressive Recording of the 900 Series and SD800 produce 60 images per second.**

This extremely dense image information creates intricate detail and silky smooth motion. Even when subjects move quickly, afterimages are minimized to create more natural images. The progressive method is most effective when shooting designs where more patterns tend to occur, or when capturing scenes during sports events where the subjects are intensely moving around. Also, the recorded images displayed clearly even when they are made into still images, so it is possible to preserve stunning photos when clipping them from videos.

Panasonic HDC-SD90 Interlaced Scanning (1080/60i)

Only half of the image data is reproduced in each picture. Fabric patterns run together, and moiré patterns appears.
Interlaced Scanning – Only half of the image data is reproduced in each picture.
